“N/A” is the name of debut album of the Amsterdam/Oslo based duo. With Adrián Moncada on piano and Nino Baleyte on electronics, the music they make is a real-time musical conversation between them. The album is a set of 11 improvisations recorded in one evening in July of 2021.

“We meet every month for one year in order to build up a common language, and exploring the possibilities of the piano and the electronics setting”.

Each track of this album starts with a simple musical idea. The duo lets their intuition decide what comes next without a previously decided plan. Through live sampling of the piano with Nino's electronics they create a microcosmos which resemble processes that happen in nature: think of plants reproducing or mutations that happen at a molecular level, where there is a certain urge that moves the natural processes forward. In this way the music that “N/A” presents might have some rough edges, but always with an underlying sense of order and inevitability in their improvisations.

Adrián Moncada is an Amsterdam based pianist and composer originally from Madrid, Spain. He started this studies in the Netherlands in 2014, and graduated Cum Laude from the jazz performance program at CvA in 2020.
